We have the privilege to act as the Honorary Chairs of the 21st annual World Partnership Golf Tournament – Edmonton. It is a joy to welcome you to a wonderful day of golf!
Whether you join us today with in-depth knowledge of the tournament and its impact, or whether this is all new to you, I know you will leave today’s event with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Aga Khan Foundation Canada, and the real difference this event makes.
As Canadians, we know we are incredibly fortunate, and we know we are citizens of the world. While we understand the importance of giving at home and do not sidestep this, we also see and are committed to giving our time and our resources in support of important causes beyond our borders.
Whether here at home or across oceans, all people have a right to live a healthy life free from poverty. For over 40 years, the Aga Khan Foundation Canada has been unrelentingly committed to breaking the cycle of poverty in Africa and Asia. The breadth and depth of the work the Aga Khan Foundation Canada undertakes is incredible. From boots-on-the-ground projects benefitting children, youth, and women through education, resources, and empowerment, to work here at home educating and engaging with Canadians on issues affecting fellow humans far from our home.
This event matters. Your attendance here matters. We know that we can draw a straight line from the contributions from the World Partnership Golf to truly impactful results in Africa and Asia.
So, as you enjoy a day of connection, fellowship, and golf, I invite you to take a moment to reflect on the difference you are making, and on the important work of the Aga Khan Foundation Canada.
