Now in its 18th year and the largest and longest-standing event
of its kind in support of international development, the World Partnership
Walk is an annual fundraising event that takes place in 10 cities
across Canada. The Walk makes a profound difference in the lives
of the poor; more than $17 million has been raised to date, money
that has been matched by the Canadian International Development
Agency. Additionally, the event raises awareness of the issues surrounding
global poverty and the smart solutions implemented by Aga Khan Foundation
Canada and its partners to address the development problems.

Aga Khan Foundation Canada's University Seminar Series aims to
engage Canadian university students in a substantive, interactive
learning experience in the field of international development. The
objective is to provide students with the opportunity to gain a
practical understanding of key development issues as they relate
to the design and implementation of projects in the field. The 2002
seminar topic was "Investing in Communities: A Strategy for
Reducing Poverty." It presented speakers from two non-governmental
organizations in Bangladesh and East Africa to talk about their
experiences working for grassroots organizations. They also lead
a discussion on case studies they provided. Participants looked
at finding solutions to issues and challenges within the case studies.
